Martha talks

という文ではじまる、Martha Stewartの刑務所からのクリスマスレター。この状況下でもMarthaはポジティブで、いい手紙だなぁとおもいました。ご一読ください。

あと、Marthaとはぜんぜん関係ないけど、きょう散髪屋さんに置いてあったESPNマガジンのShaqのインタビュー記事は面白かった。フリースローが苦手なShaqは、まさにその点を聞かれて、

If I was able to have the game I have and shoot 80% from the line, I'd probably be an arrogant person rather than a humble one. Everything happens for a reason.

と反論してます。おもろいですな。

イラクの件など、アメリカのやり方が世界中で独善的だと批判されているわけですが、それでもアメリカ人が先天的に持つこういう楽観主義（というかユーモアというか）にはあいかわらずこころひかれます。たぶんぼくがアメリカにいるのはそのせいじゃないかと最近自覚しています。
